How You Can Help

Grand Rapids Home for Veterans has a great need for Rubbermaid totes.  Please contact Mike Burri at (616) 299 - 7321 for more information.  Thanks!

Grand Rapids Home for Veterans has a Wish List where monetary donations are greatly appreciated in order to purchase specific items or to continue and improve existing programs.  These include the following:

MEMBER SERVICES - This fund is used to improve the quality of life for our members.  Monies donated to this area could purchase tickets for outside events such as minor league ball games, racecar events, and musical shows.  Donated monies may also be used for other recreational activities such as on-unit activities.

NATURE TRAIL - Donated monies keep the nature trail stocked with gardening supplies, tools and equipment.

THE MANN ACTIVITY ROOM - encourages individual creative participation through hands-on work:

  • Ceramic Class - provide supplies/equipment for projects
  • Wood Shop - provide materials/equipment for projects
  • Oil Painting/Watercolor Class - provide materials/equipment for projects
MEDIA CENTER FUND - This fund allows the Home to purchase and loan televisions to members with a limited income.  This fund also supports the purchase of headphones, cassette/CD players with headsets, audio books, newly released DVD movies, and other media supplies for the Media Center.

TRIPLE-HEAD RAZOR/GROOMING - Monies provide new triple-head electric razors to promote and maintain the health, dignity and well-being of members without funds.

CLOTHING ROOM BUILDING FUND - Many of our members rely on the clothing donations we receive at the Home.  Monetary donations greatly help maintain the current program of cleaning and distributing of new and used clothing as well as counting towards a much-needed new clothing donation center.

SPECIAL PROJECTS - Special projects continually develop that relate to a specific member, nursing unit or facility need.  To learn more about these needs, please call Deanna Reames in the Volunteer Office at 616.364.5331.
